Review of Lore (2012) by Bill S — 04 Aug 2013
In post-war Germany (1945), children of an SS officer and his wife, who have been sent to prison find themselves on their own. After most of their young years of hearing of the infallibility of their Further and race hatred, especially against the Jews, Lore, the 14-year old left in charge of a baby and younger brothers and sisters, has difficulty in accepting saving help from a Jewish boy who has survived the death camps.
Their saga is one of terrible discovery (devastation) and learning the truth of the Nazi regime. This is one of the few good films about what happened to the survivors of WWII in Germany immediately after the end of the war.
It was the final betrayal by Hitler after he cowardly took his own life and left the Germans to suffer the fate of defeat.
