Review of L'Atalante (1934) by Jack G — 14 Nov 2007
The most sublime work of French cinema pre-New Wave. And yes, I've seen Grand Illusion. It's also unique in that Vigo never made a feature film before or after this one; he died tragically at the age of 29.
Some would kill to make a film like this at any age, much less in youth. It's poetry, people!
