Yes, it's awful, but it's good awful. 3/4 of the heroes have some acting ability, there's plenty of Kiwi daftness going on, the soundtrack is decent and there are more practical effects than CGI. I am docking half a star due to a nicely set-up heroic moment that was rendered utterly meaningless a few moments later.
There's no point making comparisons to Romero or Fulci here. This is a straight cash-in on Shaun of the Dead (even pinching a couple of jokes) but on the whole it's easy-to-watch disposable entertainment. By no means the worst out there.
