Review of Ivanhoe (1952) by Cody F — 27 Dec 2008
Fun adventure film from the 1952 starring Robert Taylor as the title knight who tries to raise ransom money so he can free King Richard and return him to the throne. There are some very entertaining moments, especially the entire siege on the castle, that make up for some of the dull quiet moments.
But the sets and costumes and music are nice, and George Sanders is good as one of the villains. Guy Rolfe also gave a nice performance as Prince John. The final fight is pretty cool, not typical final match you see in medieval films.
