Review of Ivanhoe (1952) by K D — 27 Dec 2008
I was worried I wouldn't be able to follow the movie completely but it turned out to be rather easy to follow, which really allowed for an enjoyable taste of the classic bouts of old Britain. Who wouldn't enjoy the tournament scene or the challenge scene near the end of the film, both very entertaining.
Elizabeth Taylor was breathtaking, as just about all her performances in the 50's would sum up to, and Joan Fontaine also played the classic good girl well. The period for which this film is set really makes it worth watching.
