The bloody sword fighting was cool enough & the story was interesting enough to just pass muster. While it does'nt come close to the awesome Lady Snowblood movies or my personal favorite the Red Peony Gambler series or such Hong Kong classics as Swordsman II & III or The Bride With White Hair, it is certainly light years ahead of such steaming piles of crap like Azumi or the live craption version of Blood the Last Vampire.
