Review of Heartless (2010) by Colby F — 16 May 2011
A touching, dark, and violent story of an outcast who finally begins to live his version of a beautiful life - but with great cost. Jim Sturgess gives a powerful performance, most likely the greatest he's done yet! Director Philip Ridley mixes heartache and hope along with fantasy and personal drama, creating a canvas of horror and realism, but, more vividly, a strong message of accepting one's own beauty and value as a human being.
'Heartless' is anything but; this film is moving and triumphant, rich, raw, filled with heart and completely satisfying.
