Review of Heartless (2010) by Helen E — 27 Feb 2012
Not a perfect film, but its damn near. Philip Ridley is a genius IMO and I loved this film. It's him all over, it really is and I adore it for that. There's some really beautiful imagery against the setting of the sometimes unforgiving streets of London.
I loved the whole concept and faustian story and the meaning behind "The darker it gets, the more you see". It really captivated me, I couldn't take my eyes off the screen! I do agree with some other peoples reviews in a way about the individual performances of some of the actors and some of the direction, that's why it's not perfect but I guess I am a bit biased when it comes to a writer I just love.
Definitely worth a watch but not for the faint hearted!
