Review of Harakiri (1962) by Jason S — 04 Jun 2008
The first 3/4ths of the film is told through engaging flashbacks, both reality and memories swept along with an abundance of tracking shots and excitingly timed zooms. The story is revealed subtly, one point at a time, until the stakes are understood and the drama has peaked.
Then, badass samurai fighting time. All capped off with eerie end cinematography and the profound knowledge that all of what you saw and loved had NO significance in the long run. How perfect is this film?
