Review of Funeral Parade of Roses (1969) by Private U — 01 Nov 2007
Absolutely one of the most important Japanese films ever made. An experimental film about the underground homosexual culture of Japan during the late 60s, FPoR's cerebral narrative and imagery were a direct influence on Stanley Kubrick's 'A Clockwork Orange', many scenes simply being lifted from the film.
Largely forgotten today, this film maintains it's status as a great cultural landmark.
