Review of Flamingo Road (1949) by James H — 08 Mar 2009
[6.0] This movie is a bit like "First Blood", with Crawford as the girl from out of town and Greenstreet as the corrupt politician who'll stop at nothing to send her packing. They are extremely well matched.
I enjoyed their sparring and the rising tension, but the pressure started to dissipate in the final act, and the final showdown was over all-too quickly. It's definitely worth checking out though, especially if you're a fan of Crawford.
Gladys George is also memorable in the small role of a tavern owner who takes Joan under her wing.
