Review of Far North (2008) by Noel K — 21 Feb 2009
A harsh, biting, depressing story about two women living in a forbidding environment and the disturbance of their relationship when a soldier enters their lives. The cinematography by Roman Osin is just stunning.
The panoramic, wide angle scenes is an integral part of this story as much as the acting and the plot. Based on a short story by Sara Maitland, who writes about strong women, Asif Kapadia and Tim Miller tell a tale of these two women with minimal dialogue.
The original music by Dario Marionelli add another layer of emotion to this movie. It is a depressing movie but well acted and well made.
