Review of Carancho (2010) by Amilcar A — 20 Mar 2011
Carancho (vulture). Every day in Buenos Aires 22 people die in traffic accidents so this means there is a lot of money to be made. A dodgy Insurance lawer decides to grow a conscience when he falls in love with a young doctor.
This is when things begin to spiral out of control. The director is obviously not enamoured with these 'vultures' who pray on peoples missfortune. Beginning with a really original premise the movie builds to an uncompromising conclusion and the reliably strong presence that Richardo Darin brings to all his movies makes this one a keeper.
Great stuff.
