Review of Carancho (2010) by Jj M — 17 May 2011
A film that slowly, slowly ekes out more in its story and admirably develops unexpectedly making it compelling for 2/3s of the running time. Unfortuantely, this development is more like a descent into unpleasantness.
Characters become desperate, all hope fades and the director obviously indulges in making the viewer wince by constructing even more graphic scenes than the last. It made me feel cold at the end and I didn't like the hip style that the production brought to the drama.
Out of place. Still, well-acted by Darin and Martina Gusman.
