Review of Brain Damage (1988) by Jens R — 28 Jul 2008
A seriously demented horror metaphor for drug addiction!
The euphoria of the intoxication is wonderfully conveyed by trippy, visual effects, a stellar performance by the protagonist and a spaced out soundtrack!
Henenlotter attains some almost Bunuel-esque surrealness in some scenes, in particular the notorious restaurant scene.
The film never gets preachy, it just simply offers some visually poignant and philosophically sound metaphors for the pros and cons of narcotics!
