Review of Born to Be Blue (2015) by Chris F — 11 Sep 2016
This film seemingly struggles to find its way much like the story of Chet Baker's life. There are moments of brilliance in cinematography seen throughout Chet's attempted return to greatness that reel you in.
These scenes accompanied with an absolute masterpiece of cool jazz score leave you wanting more. It isn't until the films climax that the audience feels completely satisfied with the journey to the start of the credits.
A well crafted film with great performances by Ethan Hawke and Carmen Ejogo.
