Review of Beyond Clueless (2015) by Ian G — 03 May 2014
An wannabe anthropological look at the teen film genre post John Hughes specifically from 1995 post Clueless until approximately 2004. Great choice in Faruiza Balk acting as the narrator as she was one of the prime actresses at least initially that got things rolling with the cult hit the Craft.
But it seems that for the most part the filmmakers just offer synopisis of a lot of titles from various subgenres and discusses a couple of tropes often found in them, mostly spendin ga lot of time on what one assumes are fav titles as opposed to groundbreaking or relevent ones consistently.
Interesting although might have benefitted from using the Metal: a Head bangers journey's technique for a more dispassionate and intellectual perspective.
