Review of You Get Me (2017) by Jacob F — 03 Jul 2017
Typical obsession thriller: boy/girl sleeps with stranger while in a relationship, stranger they've slept with becomes dangerously obsessed and blackmails boy/girl.
This the same formula these films have followed all the way back to Fatal Attraction in the 1980's and it wasn't even very interesting then!
You Get Me follows that same exact predictable formula, hitting every cliche on its way to an underwhelming conclusion. This is also a film that proves Bella Thorne has absolutely no range as an actress, atleast not yet. She makes her character a laughable joke, rather then a dangerous, mentally ill stalker. The rest of the cast just puts in incredibly average performances.
The directing, editing, and cinematography are fine. At times better than fine, but it never manages to not feel like a made for TV film.
Skip this one, and throw it in the mountain of obsessed thrillers trying to follow Fatal Attractions success.
