Review of Spectre (2015) by Jacob F — 20 Oct 2017
A middling entry in the franchise, SPECTRE is more noteworthy for how boring it is than for anything else it does, except for appallingly trying to tie all prior Craig films together into some kind of haphazard "Cinematic Universe," an approach that is completely wrong for Bond.
Also, making Blofeld Bond's brother was a joke 14 years ago when Austin Powers 3 did it. Seriously, this film stole ideas from Austin Powers 3. And not any of the good ideas from the opening few minutes of Austin Powers 3.
Just some of the bullshit parts. But played seriously. Deadly seriously. "THE DEAD ARE ALIVE!!!" Saved from complete mediocrity by the brilliant pairing of director Sam Mendes and DP Hoyte van Hoytema, who teamed to make a beautiful-looking, if shallowly mediocre film.
