Review of Wolfen (1981) by Stephen T — 26 Oct 2006
In derelict New York strange murders take place. Albert Finney investigates and discovers a pack of supernatural wolves. Confusing movie that probably seemed impressive 25 years ago. It's incredibly dated - most of the characters are middle-aged men, reversal footage used for the wolves' viewpoint appears silly, stylish contrast between scenes, scruffy Finney (who looks like an extra), silly detective plot, and the fashion sense.
All that's mossing is a scene set in a nightclub (complete with disco music from the era). You'll spend most of the picture wondering what exactly is going on. The best part of the movie was the unusual casting.
Wolfen is dated but serious werewolf movie.
