Review of The Wind That Shakes the Barley (2006) by Mike F — 24 Aug 2008
This is the movie that Michael Collins wanted to be but wasn't. It's ironic that it took and Englishman to tell the most Irish of stories but nothing captures the way the Irish revolution and subsequent civil war tore apart the fabric of the country and set rivalries that we're still feeling the repercussions from.
Loach is at the top of his game here and the naturalistic acting is outstanding as well.
