Review of The Road Within (2014) by Preston L — 25 Sep 2015
Becauise we are laughing at the severe issues of Anorexia, Tourettes and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, the first several minutes of this movie are uncomfortable. But when you let go and just let the story play itself out, it is actually a wonderful tale of 3 people discovering their own paths out of misery.
But it also is not a picture perfect ending where everyone walks away unscathed or healed. This is a charming film with depth and humor. Seriously, how can one not laugh at a tourettes victim and an obsessive compulsive sharing an apartment in a facility designed to help them.
I think the professional reviewers were just too afraid to laugh because of the sensitive nature of the subject matter. This is much better than the 33% tomatometer!
