Review of The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) (2017) by Abdulmalik A — 07 Dec 2017
I'm not normally a fan of Dustin Hoffman but he is perfect as the ageing, artist father of a somewhat dysfunctional trio of adult children. When you have Emma Thompson as the scatty latest wife this, at times painful, family comedy/drama scores higher than most.
Directed by Noah Baumbach, this will appeal to people who enjoy the movies of Woody Allen as it has a similar style and flavour. Well observed and engaging, if this is a sign of things to come from a Netflix production, it bodes well for the future.
