Review of The Last Winter (2006) by Steve K — 04 Apr 2009
Last Winter really had the potential to be a perfect psychological horror film, a la the similar-in-theme Session 9. Unfortunately, the creepiness factor dissolves once the "Wendigo" is shown, but everything before that is ace.
Perlman plays the perfect asshole leader, but kudos goes out to James LeGros, who I've enjoyed as an actor since Point Break, and recently Zodiac. Overall, the movie is pretty good. The ambiguous ending (which veers into Inconvenient Truth territory) is the perfect way to conclude this flawed horror film.
