Review of The Last House in the Woods (2006) by Simone S — 12 Mar 2009
This movie was bloody just for the sake of being bloody --- all the gore wasn't necessary (i.e. huge neck boils exploding with weird green slime). The acting was bad and over the top, and the story didn't make any sense at all, but I do think this could have been a good movie if they would have tied everything together. It was actually a decent concept: parents have a deformed, mutant child and would do anything, even kill and mutilate other people to keep their own son alive. Not a horrible idea, but the story needed to be developed more -- then at the end, it would have left you wondering who to root for... the parents fighting for their kid, or the people getting killed to feed him?
They didn't develop that story, however, so it was just a gore fest.
