Review of The Hate U Give (2018) by Charlie A — 06 Dec 2018
I believe that this movie was a generational success that should remain a classic for years to come. Although it started off with a lighter, more playful tone, it became one of the most meaningful movies that I have ever seen.
The main idea of the movie was that the hate (the violence, ruthlessness, lack of compassion) that was being represented by the adults and role models in Garden Heights would come back to haunt the children who grow up seeing this.
Another main idea was that there are very little opportunities for good pay for the citizens of Garden Heights. Once the opportunities are gone, they need money and are forced to get it through unlawful ways such as selling drugs for the King Lords.
They conveyed there message well, and the acting was very strong towards the end of the movie. That was my opinion of The Hate U Give.
