The Double offers a unique combination of sporadic hilarity and depressing bleakness. Eisenberg is outstanding as the leading figure who slowly descends into an emotionally tormented young man; his duplicate, also played by him, is equally interesting.
The two character's allow the actor to demonstrate a range expanding polar opposites. The Double is as profound as it is engaging - a marvel of a film.
