Review of Stardust Memories (1980) by Yong C — 22 Aug 2008
Woody allen's 8 1/2. A film about a movie director who just doesn't want to make any more funny movies. He wants to make serious movies, but his departure from his earlier comedies create tension with movie studios and fans. The story unfolds as the director attends a film festival in honor of his career in movies.
Sandy: I don't want to make funny movies any more. They can't force me to. I... you know, I don't feel funny. I look around the world, and all I see is human suffering.
Manager: Human suffering doesn't sell tickets in Kansas City.
Sandy: Oh!
Manager: THey want laughs in Kansas City. They've been working in the wheat field all day.
