Review of Somers Town (2008) by James E — 22 Aug 2008
Another great little film from Shane Meadows. While the story is very VERY slight, the film is nontheless an engaging and affectionate look at cross-cultural adolescence. Turgoose is great again as Tommo, but he is ably supported by Piotr Jagiello.
Only the rather twee ending sours the film a little, reminding us that the film was co-funded by Eurostar, but it is a great film from the Scorcese of the Midlands which, while not his best, still runs circles around most other British films.
