Review of Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks (2014) by Lowbrowcinema — 14 Dec 2014
Sometimes you're in the mood for a bad movie and I thought hey, let's go see SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS! The film adaptation of a Broadway bomb that closed in just a few weeks. BUT and it's a big BUT! What a surprise SIX DANCE LESSONS is.
Yes it is contrived. Yes it has an awful trailer that will totally turn you off, but the film itself has moments of such unsentimental insights and truth that it kind of blew me away. Rowlands and Jackson have a great rapport but it is the honesty and directness of Rowlands that makes this film quite wonderful.
As we all should know, Gena Rowlands is an actress of such reach and directness that acting is not what one can call this. It is so far beyond.
