Dopey but never dull, 50 SHADES OF GREY is way too somber for its own good. Why are these films always so serious? Shouldn't S&M be fun? Or mean and nasty. Something. Luckily, saw this in Spanish in Mexico City which made it far more entertaining than it should be.
Dakota Johnson is pretty damn good though. Question: Why does each generation need a story like this? From STORY OF O to 9 1/2 WEEKS to 50 SOMBRAS DE GREY. WHY? Inquiring minds want to know.
