Review of Scotland, PA (2001) by Jonathan S — 23 Mar 2008
Cool movie, great soundtrack. Very cleverly adapted and fun to see the way the Macbeth story was taken to a 70s fast-food restaurant. As everything starts collapsing around the McBeth's it all comes together and is great fun.
A little disappointed the pot-smoking-gypsy-"witches" weren't explored more, nor was the Macbeth plot-line about no man born of a woman or whatever. All that is left is one tossed off line with Mac saying the gypsy guys said 'everything will be alright.
' which clearly is false.... This takes away from the clever actual Macbeth twist where he only THINKS it will be alright because he was tricked and overassumed what the witches statement meant. Oh well.
still cool.
