Review of Savages (2006) by Maxwell D — 19 Dec 2008
Has kind of a bleak interpretation of life, but a very realistic one, and I always appreciate realism no matter the circumstance. Philip Seymour Hoffman in particular is good in this. I can't help but notice how far apart Hoffman is from the rank and file of hollywood's narcissistic elite.
He has his own truly subtle style that I have a feeling many cannot appreciate, but which is, I think, much more rewarding to see than the canned performances one usually sees from Tom Cruise and his ilk.
