Review of Promises (2001) by Bhavna T — 30 Aug 2007
A highly moving documentary that depicts the sheer innocence of Palestinian and Israeli children, who, when given a chance, are capable of rising above everything that divides them from one another. Unfortunately, they grow up in a culture of hate that divides "us" and "them", which creates formidable challenges in maintaining any kind of lasting friendship.
I caught this on Netflix recently, and highly recommend this extraordinary documentary to anyone who wants a more sensitive approach to understanding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
