Review of Promises (2001) by Rob C — 13 Feb 2009
BZ really captures the beauty of ordinary life even in this backdrop: so many awesome interactions here linger and aren't spelled out. The consciousness and compassion of many of the kids is amazing, as are their varied takes on the relations they want with the other side.
Watching the complexity of the situation apparently melt away in an innocent soccer game is so moving: it captures a moment of how it could be.
