Review of Powder Blue (2009) by Mark S — 20 Dec 2009
Powder Blue is really sad and depressing arthouse film about the painful emotional burdens that people must often carry with them through life. Beautiful moments are few and far between but are especially poignant in their contrast with this central theme. The religious undercurrent is hard to stomach unless you are of that persuasion, and is in evidence from the very first scenes. Some dramatic moments and a hopeful ending provide a necessary closure on this depressing exposition, and go some way towards redeeming the film - great performances from the lead actors add another star.
If you think your life is tough, you will think again after watching Powder Blue. If that is what you are looking for from an evening's entertainment be sure to check it out.
