Review of Only God Forgives (2013) by Sandy R — 18 Sep 2013
Nicolas Winding Refn's latest movie has almost universally been panned by critics. Only God Forgives rivals Drive in terms of quality and is destined to become a future classic. The film is wildly and visually inventive with hypnotic landscapes bathed in colour and a superb, brooding electronic soundtrack by Cliff Martinez.
This film isn't the bland oversimplified Hollywood tripe, it challenges the viewer through it's lack of dialogue and central narration. It abandons conventional means of story telling and the results are wonderful.
Ignore the critics, this film is a meticulous work of art and I truly believe it to be a masterpiece.
