Review of Old Joy (2006) by Taylor J — 30 Jan 2008
A beautiful look at a struggling friendship. Minimalist in respect to the events and dialogue, but not in meaning, in this way it reminded me a bit of Stranger than Paradise and also Mutual Appreciation insofar as these films are excellent examples of minimalism.
It's a glance at what happens when people grow up and grow apart, an uncomfortable reminder that friends don't always grow in the same direction. Great film.
