Review of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994) by Bob V — 06 Mar 2010
At last, a director with the courage and vision to take on Mary Shelley's opus magnum. I read Frankenstein as a boy and was shocked to see what pap Hollywood had made of the epic story. Reading the book one comes to appreciate and feel sympathy for Adam (Frankenstein's monster) even while detesting some of his later actions.
The movie for any thinking, feeling person offers the same fascinating perspective . . . DeNiro was utterly terrific! Film Noire at its best.
