Review of Like Father, Like Son (2013) by Amilcar A — 16 Feb 2014
No one will ever call my range of movie watching narrow. Just like I spent Friday evening with Robocop and yesterday with About Last Night, today I debated between a Japanese drama and the Lego movie. I chose the former not because I was more interested but simply because it was closer.
I am not disappointed at all. I mean, who would not want to spend a rainy Sunday evening watching a movie about families in disarray when they realize their babies where deliberately switched in the hospital by a vindictive nurse.
Now, even with all the drama and sour tones, the movie is absolutely great and there is a pretty happy ending. Sorry for the spoiler alert.
I really love some of these modern Japanese films. While this one is not quite at the level of Awakenings, it's still superb and might bring a tear to your eye.
