Quite simply a masterpiece and believe me I've seen a few good classic movies in my time. Do not die without seeing this. I'm waiting to be able to download it to my i-pad so I can watch a bit every day.
The character studies are the wonder of it. Such beautifully understated cameos. Believable people. People you are left wanting to know more about - wishing you knew.
The cinematography and choices of setting are peerless. Seedy, atmospheric and beautiful.
The plot sounds like a cliche maybe but the treatment is original and fresh.
It is a delight.
