Review of Jumanji: The Next Level (2019) by Derekreide — 13 Dec 2019
After two years of anticipation from the first reboot, ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’, we’re treated to the clear definition of the sequel disease. What I mean by this is good enough, but still lacking in the “health benefits”.
The second installment in the Sony-rebooted ‘Jumanji’ series is nothing short of high stakes. It’s adventurous, action-packed, and funny, much like its predecessor. But while watching the film, I couldn’t help but notice the poorly conceived villain, some inconsistent pacing, and some areas of the film being much less hilarious than ‘Welcome to the Jungle.
’ There were definite moments where I burst out laughing, but there were at least two to three times more in the first. Overall, it’s a good enough installment in the ‘Jumanji’ series, and I’m still eager to see what happens next.
