Review of Jodorowsky's Dune (2013) by Robert J — 26 Apr 2014
In the 1970's, Alejandro Jodorowsky was approached by a French group of businessmen to direct a film adaptation of Dune. Jodorowsky, a Chilean born director known for his Art House/Midnight Movie films, jumped at the chance. After 2 1/2 years of planning, the project came to a screeching halt.
Jodorowsky's version of the book has it's roots firmly planted in 1960's drug culture. Infact, Jodorowsky says in the film that he wanted the movie to be an "LSD trip without the LSD". This movie shows some of the huge talents involved with the movie and the reasons it ultimately was never made.
