Review of Japanese Story (2003) by Anne D — 27 Aug 2008
This is not the kind of movie to go for if you like 1) big action (I had someone asleep on me, snoring into my ear for the most part) and 2) happy endings. The thing I liked most about this flick is the realism and the fact that it doesn't conform to what you hope for and what you expect.
Very surprising twist towards the end, beautifully acted and great cinematography. Toni Collette is wonderful as always and Gotaro Tsunashima is delightful, naive, infuriating and everything he should be.
