Review of Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) by Adriano V — 13 Apr 2014
The best film of 2013 by far. a melancholic examination of failure, depression and the feeling of becoming lost in time. It's a triumph of subtlety and structure. And yet Inside Llewyn Davis manages to entertain with great performances, perfect pacing, stunning use of cinematography, heart, humour, wonderful music and one of the best plot devices in film history.
It doesn't reek of the tropes that plague most period piece character studies. One of the best films of the decade and ranks with Fargo, a serious man, no country for old men and Miller's crossing as one of the best films of the coen's careers.
