Review of Gangs of New York (2002) by Patrick P — 25 Jun 2012
Gangs of New York has been described as a disappointment in the Scorsese filmography, however I would full heartedly disagree. This film covers a lot of ground and, at times, slows down because of it. However, this is a wonderfully structured film, with great sets, and fantastic acting.
As far as historical films go, it takes liberties, but as gangster films go this is one of the best out there while making great commentary on social and economic issues at the time.
