Review of Fox and His Friends (1975) by Phil S — 28 Jul 2008
One of the most brutal films about the consequences of unrequited love and selflessness. Oh, have I lived it...
...but aside from its stark intensity, one must take into consideration the genuis of Rainer Werner Fassbinder and his thought processes: every choice of camera placement, set design, color scheme, etc.; like his idol Douglas Sirk, he employs melodrama to heighten the emotions of the characters. And it is through this kind of exaggeration that our humanity is simplified, and that we better understand ourselves in relation to the world around us.
