Review of DeepStar Six (1989) by Sean C — 24 Feb 2011
One of the better of the slew of underwater disaster/horror films that clogged movie houses in the late 80's, with acceptable special effects, a decent cast of mostly TV personnel, and some involving action scenes and a gaggle of suitably gory deaths perpetrated by a giant, very unfriendly crab-cousin who delights in making California Rolls out of most of the characters.
"B J and the Bear"'s Greg Evigan is a likable hero, and Miguel Ferrer steals the whole thing as he mercilessly chomps the scenery as a VERY high-strung and neurotic crew member. I vastly prefer this over James Cameron's much-lauded, over-rated and over-long "The Abyss".
