Review of Blood Creek (2009) by Chad D — 18 Jan 2014
Ultimately, all Nazi-zombie movies disappoint, and, unfortunately, Blood Creek is no exception. Shock Waves, Zombie Lake, Oasis of the Zombies, Dead Sno--all of these films promised something genuinely profound in the world of horror/exploitation cinema and failed to deliver upon it.
That being said, Blood Creek does offer some genuinely gruesome, memorable, and original moments: zombie horse attack, nazi occult rituals using Nordic runes, etc. But these moments get lost in a plodding plot that becomes tiresome before the end of the film.
Plus, I personally enjoyed the first section of the film, which is set during WWII and is shot in black and white, more than most of the film's remainder. Plenty of gore and twisted death scenes make up some for the boring plot development, and Blood Creek still ranks above some of Schumacher's more abysmal films--I'm looking at you Batman Forever and Batman and Robin.
