Review of Ben-Hur (1959) by Kacy M — 24 Sep 2009
One of the best religious movies ever made. It chronicles the life of Ben-Hur, a Jew under the rule of the Romans in the time of Christ. Charlton Heston gives one of his best performances. The subtle appearances of Jesus are fantastic and the film really lives as a true breath of what the time was like, the unfair treatment of Jews is evident and fantastically portrayed by this film.
Everything you want in a film. The film's subtleties are where its greatest strength lies. It conveys multiple deep meanings, you get a feeling from this movie that no other movie will give you. Beautiful.
